Need more photo adventures.

But for now, leftover shots from the disposable camera photo adventure will have to do.

Day 339

05th December 2010, (0 Comments)

Well this is interesting, never imagined I would see a Pavilion of Gwang-Ju in the middle of San Antonio.

But here it is.

This is in the middle of Denman Estate Park, off of I10. Actually really close to where I work.

Went for a walk in the park today, with a disposable camera to get a few snaps. Today is Disposable Camera Day. Or it soon will be if that little group in Ireland can pull it off.

Now we wait and see what turns out. Film should be ready tomorrow.

More on Denman Estates.

Hat tip to Eva Ruth for telling me about this place.

Polaroid week Day 1

I swear, one of these days I am going to buy a scanner, but until that day enjoy the crappy iPhone shots of the polaroids I take.

Today is day one of Polaroid week, fall edition. And since I found some expired film last night I decided to shoot with it this week.

This is a tree and metal flower in my own back yard. I picked up the flower at a craft fair one year for my mom while I was down in lovely Rockport, Texas.

This photo is just a test shot, I needed to make certain that the film was still good. That an image would show up.

How awful would that have been to get pumped for Polaroid week and then have nothing to show for it because of bad film.

Would end up just like pinhole day, a disaster.

An adventure in San Antonio

Lindzi running the camera
Lindzi running the camera Shot with a Holga.

Right now in Vancouver a gallery is showing photos from an event held there called the 12X12 Photo Marathon. Participants get 12 hours to photograph 12 themes, a new theme released every hour using a roll of film that only has 12 exposures on it.

After it is over, the photographer returns the roll of film to be processed and judged. The photos are printed, the winners are announced and a month later they show off the photos from the marathon at a gallery.

One of my goals is to run a photo marathon in San Antonio, following the 12×12. I have emailed the organizers of the Vancouver event to ask them what their recommendations are.

As I see it right now the things I will need are:

  • A venue on the day it is to begin/Venue for the showing.
  • Social Media presence/Blog
  • A signup process
  • Flyers to post in the camera stores around town
  • People interested in participating
  • Judges

Hopefully the nice people in Vancouver can talk me through how they organized their first marathon and I can give it a try from there.

Really excited to get this project going. When I first heard of this event it sounded like something I would want to participate in.

But no one had organized one near me, Vancouver is pretty far.

So I think I am going to have to give it a try.

Day 284

Today I saw announced on Twitter than a pinhole camera app was added to the iTunes app store.

I decided to give it a try and see if it is worth playing with. This is the only camera app I have seen that allows for double exposures. While it can only mimic a pinhole camera it is pretty cool, and with three different film options you can have a little bit of fun with it.

Some features I hope they add are:

  • More film options
  • flash
  • a way to randomly pick the film and flash combo

An example of these features can be seen in the Hipstamatic app.

Some features I would like to see the app get
