Day 213: deep in the heart of…
02nd August 2010, in Pictures ( Comments)

I drew this picture for Jacie this morning right before I left town.
I had to drop it off at her place.
I am a terrible artist, and ignore the fact that this is on Hello Kitty paper, it is all that was available. It is my roommate’s note paper for to-do lists.

I then began my drive across the state, this is outside of Post, Texas.
It is weird to see West Texas this green. Usually it is just brown because all the grass is dead.
But this summer we have gotten a lot of rain, turning everything green.

Outside of Ballinger, Texas stands this massive cross.
This is part of a statue garden sponsored by a church out in West Texas. This is the only thing visible from the road.

Then I arrived at Paint Rock, I tried to go see the Pictographs, however the gate was closed.
I have seen the pictographs in New Mexico at the Gila Cliff Dwellings, however I have never seen any in Texas.
I shot this plaque because it was near the entrance to the Pictographs gate. Apparently there was a bridge across the river there, however it has been replaced and this is all that remains.

Passing through Eden, I saw where the local paper was at. It is a small establishment, I thought about submitting my resume, but I am not sure what their web staff is like.
Honestly, for a small town paper like this WordPress is perfect.

And then there is Menard. This is the last town I pass through before hitting Junction and wonderful I-10.
The glory of I-10 is the fact that it is 80 mph.
You just feel like your blasting through the Hill Country.
